SEO, SEM, HubSpot, AND FISHING – I want to combine these passions!
Hi All, some will know me from the competition circuit, some will know me as the founder and owner of Shamrock Fishing Tackle.
I’m looking to hook up with any guys who are as passionate about SEM/SEO as they are about Angling. It’s funny because I actually see many similarities between both.
I’m not going to explain what I mean by the terms above, if you have to ask, you’re not the guy.
I’m working on a few plans behind the scenes and I’m hoping to connect with some like-minded individual who might be interested in joining forces.
If you’re just out of college, or have been working in this sector, or just passionate about SEM, and you’re as mad about angling as I am, then we NEED TO TALK NOW J Fire me off a mail to
paulrobinson99@gmail.comAm just after getting my first spinning setup (Mike Ladle surepin MK11 + a Shimano Stradic 4000) and I hope to get out this weekend to give it a bash. Was just wondering what would be knocking around this time of the year and if anyone had any pointers for someone who is brand new to lure fishing. Was thinking of heading to one of the more well known spots for spinning like Whiterock or Ballygannon, would these spots be worth a shout? Any advice would be much appreciated.
Trying to get a hold of a few of these in a tackle shop in the cork area.Would anyone know where i would get a few.
anybody at the sea wall in monkstown this morning for the low?
Has anyone any good spots to dig some lug around south Dublin?
I was down in Blackrock last week but they were thin on the ground.
Got about 60 in two hours.
I heard they go deeper down with the cold weather. is that the case?
Only been out twice so very new to it. Any good spots or tips would be great.

well, i recently moved from using a fixedspool to a multiplier. im right handed and i useually winded in with my left hand and pumped the rod with my right, i find it difficult to reel in with my right. and i noticed that most multipliers are made with right hand wind. (all the good 1s).
is this something i should get used to r should i change to a left hand wind????

Does anybody know where to dig lug on the northside of Dublin. I have tried Dollymount but it is not great over there at the minute. Is there anywhere else I can try
I would like every angler on this site to go onto this page on the Sports Council of Ireland which lists out all the sports that they fund, and the amounts given in core funding.
http://www.irishsportscouncil.ie/Govern ... nvestment/
Angling, which is splint into 5 different governing bodies, gets 15000eu which equates to 3000 each.
Now I'm not going to go into the specifics of what every other sport gets, but lets just say that Baton twirling gets 13,849eu

, and orienteering gets just under 48,000eu
If you are as sickened by this state of affairs as I am, please click on this link and send them a question asking them to explain the reasoning behind this.....
http://www.irishsportscouncil.ie/contact.aspx
I have below copied the message I wrote as something you could copy and paste or write something like it.
"I was just wondering why the largest actual participation sport in this country, where approx 20 teams are sent to home international and world events each year gets a core funding of 15,000eu which is divided between the 5 different angling bodies in this country ie: 3000eu each when an incredibly niche sport like baton twirling gets almost 14000eu, and a very small participation sport like Orienteering gets just under 48,000eu.
I would appreciate if someone could come back to me and explain this.
Yours in sport
David Jolly"
I would love to see if this appalling state of affairs could be changed.
What do people think...
Btw try not to shout out loud at your computer screen when you see some of the amounts given to things like AMERICAN FOOTBALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With the comps over and work proving to be a bit hectic I decided that some R & R was called for and therefore headed down to 13th beach to get some much needed stress relief.
The forecast conditions weren't as good as I would have hoped for with and easterly wind and medium swell though the actual conditions were quite different, which if you live in Victoria you would be well aware of. What greeted me was a medium southerly , a reasonable shore break and a bit of discoloured water . Ideal for picking up a few Pinkies which I was hoping for though not the best for the Gummies. Still as I only had a short time to be on the beach due to work on the Saturday morning I wanted to make the most of the time.
(
Sunset on 13th with my two Century TT's )
I had brought down two rods for myself as well as one of my Century 10'6" spin sticks as Rick had weanted to try the rod out to see if it would meet his requirements. Note that it wasn't set up for a threadline but it would give him a good idea of the rods capabilities casting a range of weights and lure styles.
I was using my Tip Tornado Match and another that I will cover off later on .
Reel for the occasion were my Pen Torque 100 and the Squall 12 , leads cast on the day were 6 oz due to the strength of the onshore wind matched with 4/0 circle hooks loaded with whitebait and squid cocktail baits on clipped down pulley rigs.
As hoped the pinkies were on the prod though the size was a bit too small for my liking , I took about a dozen for the whole session with all being released to grow to a better size . I did get a nice flathead which was kept as I am partial to the sweet taste of these , sadly it was the only one .
Along with these fish I also picked up a big banjo shark ( Fiddler Ray ) which whilst fun on the lighter outfit wasn't what I had hoped for .
(
One of the Pinky Snapper taken during the session )
Whilst I was doing this Rick came down as he was staying down at Ocean Grove to have a look at the 10'6" spin stick and to try it out with my Daiwa Exceller 4500 matched with Ultima Distance line and running a tapered leader. Rick was wanting to see how the rod performed with the various sized lures that he normally uses on the beach.
(
Rick punching out a lure on the Spin stick )
Of interest to him was its power rating as the plan is to use the rod for general beach spinning as well as throwing lures for the Mulloway that he hopes to target more in the future.
(
Rick working the lure back - he liked the lighness of the rod )
All in all it was good to get out and have a relax and meet up with another of the forum members nad just have a top evening.
Will be heading out again later next week and hopefully the siize of the fish will improve as the moon cycle progresses

Hello Lads. Just new to the site. Does anybody know where there is any good whiting been caught on the east coast?
Thinking of heading out today,
Would like some coalies, flounder or codling but we cant go past arklow.
Anyone any tips on a location, Iv been hitting Dalky, bullok, killiney... Am thinking Kilcole, or ann oreillys..lol.
PM welcome... Leaving about 3 today to dig lug on the way.
Hot, hard but loads of fun is the way I would describe this years championship event . Once again thanks to the generosity of the farm owner we had use of the filed that has seen some excellent casting in past years of this event, and this year proved again that we have a great buch of people that make up the club form all around Australia.
Before I progess with the details of the event I would like to thank all those interstate members who travelled long distances to be at the event with special mention to Chas who once again made the trip from Western Australia , driving over with a stop over in South Australia where he met up with Eddie and Mike .
Also it was great to see both of the Selby's make it down and give everyone a great display of casting from both Scott and the old master Ces, Ces is a inspiration to me with his dedication and capability to send the leads out a long way.
We also had a special guest from overseas with Don Becker who runs Makoi tackle and casts in the USA events spening time down under.
(
Special Guest Don )
Day one of the evnt saw hot difficult conditions with a variable north easterly wind which had the habit of going across court or swirling and coming head on righ though the day , temprature were up as is usual at this time of the year with a peak of around 36C though it felt hotter at time when the wind would simply die off.
The field was also a bit of a obstacle with the ground being cut up from the cattle that had made it there home during the winter months , though they had kep the grass down a bit . The thistles though were another thing and it was always interesting when we had to wind up to the leads before the measures.
Thoughout the event the members once again showed there true colours helping with setting up the court and the various other activities of measuring and helping anyone with questions on casting techniques and equipment issues. It is because of this mateship that I enjoy being part of the club and why organising the event is so satisfy for me.
As per previous years the event was split into two rounds with day one seeing us casting the 100 and 125 gram and the second throwing the 150 and 175 gram leads. It should be noted though that members can opt to cast nay weight they can but need to follow the format if they want to be in a run for the aggregate trophy . Due to the very tough conditions and the fact that some members couldn't attend both days we had a numner of people op[ting to cast there favourite lead throughout the event.
(
Don Sending a lead down field )
Casting honours were take out by Scott Selby who using his Century E1000 sent out some outstanding casts with the 125 and 150 gram leads. The winning cast on Day 1 of 248 meters was a brilliant cast . It wasn't easy for Scott as he arrived in the afternoon after a long drive down with Ces and he had to get stuck straigh into it in the hot windy conditions.
(
Eddie belting one out in the hot conditions )
(
Murray showing his style OTG )
It was also pleasing to see a few new faces with Phil making the effort to come down with Nick and see what the casting was all about. Phil was using his threadline outfit match to a Daiwa Hearland rod and did well with it . The reel was loaded with braid which is his prefered fishing set up . After a while he did try one of my Century TTLDSM's to see how the rods handled the leads better.
Another top performer at the event was young Sarah Cracknell who came down with he dad nick and showed her style with a very good cast of 40+ meters with the threadline. We look forward to seeing more of the kids attending this and other events as they are the future of the sport.

( Young Sarah & Dad Nick at the award timing )
Day two of the event was to my mind the hardest of the championships with the temprature even hotter and drier with wind really playing havoc with everyones casts . We did have plenty of cold drinks to keep us all hydrated but it still sapped the stamina out of a lot of us. It may be a consideration for the future to have this event pushed out to March or even April to allow people to enjoy a less stressfull day.
The day saw all casters trying their best to get the leads to fly and I was impressed with the distances given the conditions .
Here are the results from the two days for people to see the fine efforts of everyone there.
Final presentations were as usual a pleasure to me with not only trophies for the top place getters and the open raffle prizes for everyone who competed but also when Eddie presented the 200+ meter certificates to memebers who had achieved that milestone in there individual casting development.

(
Raffle prize winner - Tony with his Century 10'6" Spin Blank )
(
New Australian Champion Scott Selby with Dad Ces and his Prize of a Century CCCLD )

(
Third Place winner MIck Smajkic - brilliant 227 Meters in tough conditions )
I would also like to thank both Century and Ultima who are sponsors for the club . The prizes and use of the lines and shock leaders made this once again a top event for all present.
Looking forward to seeing even more people at the next event and hope that 2012 is a great one for PB's both on the field and on the water.
Thanks to everyone who made this event a great success.
I will post up video footage as well as links to more photos as soon as possible.
Regards

Hi all I am considering using braid on my beach multipliers, 1 X 7HT, 1 X Penn 525 Mag and 2 X 6500, has anyone used braid on their reels and if so how did you find it to use. I have the feeling that the braid would be a little bit clingy and stick to itself and as a result restrict the cast, but that is just an idea of mine and I have no reason to think that it is the real situation, hence the question?
Many thanks for any advice or suggestions about the subject, I know that it would be a very big mistake to use braid that was too thin, just asking for birds nests that way.
Regards Wez
The Dutch are adopting a similar protection model to Ireland
Henk Bleker, State Secretary (Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation) intends to work with both sport and commercial fishing on the Bass protection plan Sportvisserij Nederland suggested. This is the commitment he made yesterday in the House of Representatives in reply to the questions asked by Lutz Jacobi (PvdA) during the meeting from the Agriculture and Fisheries Council.
At the meeting, Member of Parliament Jacobi pointed everybody on the plan Sportvisserij Nederland submitted. This plan is related to the Irish regulation model….
