I was just wondering the little pin whiting that are in abundance these days how good are they as a bait for anything I generally don't keep fish and I'm on a species hunt for a doggie heard whiting is good for them. Any thoughts?

hitting rossbeigh for the youth interpro's next weekend does any one know how rossbeigh and inch strand have been fishing lately?

Hey lads I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for rod storage, I'm looking for ideas regarding ceiling hooks or something in that lines, Rods I have are sea spinning rods, Boat rods, Pier rods, and Beach Casters, (so ranging to a couple of feet when broken down to 4-5 foot lenghts for some of the beach casters) I was hoping to put them out of reach of the kids as I dont want broken tips etc, I want to store them onto the garage ceiling out of the way, and Irelized I am begining to get a collection of rods (and nope they arent for sale as each has its use, sorry)

Fished Reenroe last night 4-10pm. High tide was 7pm. I was using razor and lug combis on a pulley pennell rig. No fish. What was i doing wrong. HELP!!!!

Heya folks trying to get together a few rigs everything has to be 15lb or under.I never gave it to much though shore fishing crimping 40lb rig body,s but this seems like a art in itself!

is there any particular line which one would reccomend 15lb for the rig body,i can forsee a few broken traces if i dont get this right cheers.also with putting on the crimps is there a correct way to do this that would cause as little damage to the line as possible!

cheers

Hi all

Have a trailer in good nic but the axels, bearings and hubs are shattered. Its just stub axels and was wondering if anyone knows where I could buy replacements and any idea of prices?

Thanks
Dave

Can anybody tell me how to get this Hub off, this hub seems to be rubbing on the brake pads.. It sometimes sticks on so last night I took the wheel off and turned the hub around and it felt as if there is dirt between the pads and hub lining,
It has me worried because I think this could cause the hub to overheat on long trips, this hub is on a “roller coaster 5”

Is this a sealed bearing ?

There is a little round spring clip thingy with 2 holes that I think should be removed first but I don’t want to remove it till I know more about the set up, I was expecting to see a crown type nut here for the removal of the hub, but I suppose that would have made it too easy

I just want to get it off and clean or replace anything that may cause problems on the road,

Cheers

Cobh SAC will be holding their next Light Line Comp on Sunday week, 19th Feb. If you'd fancy fishing ring Danny Kane on 086-8161946 or Mary Geary on 021-4812167 (email seaangling@esatclear.ie) before Weds next to register.

Here's a report on the last comp in January http://www.corkharbouranglinghub.blogsp ... sults.html

For Sunday week's comp there's an important change. The boats will be leaving Kennedy Pier at 10am now instead of 9am. Lines down will be 10:15am and lines up is now 4pm.

Also, remember only the main line needs to be 15lb bs. There is no restriction on rig body, snood, or shock leader.

lads i have an old 5m rod i am rebuilding for fixed spool. i got some minima's for it. the rod was previously built with 8 rings. i got a multiplier set as i don't like the larger rings and want to start with a smaller butt ring and have an extra ring up nearer the tip(the rod will be used with mono under 10lb.)is there any point in reversing the butt ring? any thoughts/info would be great but please try to keep it simple as i am not very clever :)

so im off to north donegal next week to try for turbot for a few days
i intend to only head up around inishowen and maybe portsalon directions
it really would be great if some people could give me some pointers here please..
was thinking culdaff, leenan, or portsalon - or anywhere around these areas
what is rathmullan like to fish from this time of year and what species could i expect??
i would even appreciate info on baits and methods too (distances, tides, rigs, exact locations etc)
PMs very welcome
thanks in advance
any help greatly appreciated :!:

Am just after getting my first spinning setup (Mike Ladle surepin MK11 + a Shimano Stradic 4000) and I hope to get out this weekend to give it a bash. Was just wondering what would be knocking around this time of the year and if anyone had any pointers for someone who is brand new to lure fishing. Was thinking of heading to one of the more well known spots for spinning like Whiterock or Ballygannon, would these spots be worth a shout? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Feb 25th Courtown 16:00 - 21:00 Dabs and flounder.

Check in will be 2:30-3:00 at Dodd's Rocks entrance.

Who intends to fish?

Also if you intend to renew/join for the year you may do so then.

Hi All

I hope some gentlemen could post what they feel would be their favourite/best locations from about Newcastle Co Down to around North Co Dublin. I am not looking for secrect spots or anyhting like that, I am faily new to sea angling and would like to give myself the best chance of catching something other than Macky this year.

I am from Dundalk and usually knock around Clogherhead/Greenore! :)

Thx All

i came accross this site called...www.freefisher.com ... has anybody used it before....
example of prices.... Black Aberdeen size1/0 qty100 euro 3.55..... Dyneema braid.. 300meters 12lbs 0.12mm euro 8.55.....100 rolling swivels euro 3.06.
had a look through it and the lures are quite cheap also.... if anybody has used this site can you let me know how you got on.....thanks........

Heads up maybe people are aware of this but I only discovered last few days Orkon Fishing Tackle has some great lures at great price the flying c's are great for Bass as are the rapala skitter pops good price and if in cork can cut out postage. I got really nice saltwater fly reel too well worth checking out. Thought I knew all the tackle options obviously not!!!!!

well, i recently moved from using a fixedspool to a multiplier. im right handed and i useually winded in with my left hand and pumped the rod with my right, i find it difficult to reel in with my right. and i noticed that most multipliers are made with right hand wind. (all the good 1s).

is this something i should get used to r should i change to a left hand wind????

hi anybody have any good fishing lately around clew bay?

Has anyone any good spots to dig some lug around south Dublin?
I was down in Blackrock last week but they were thin on the ground.
Got about 60 in two hours.
I heard they go deeper down with the cold weather. is that the case?
Only been out twice so very new to it. Any good spots or tips would be great.
Shankil maybe i seen guys dig there before.

Cheers,

Does anybody know where to dig lug on the northside of Dublin. I have tried Dollymount but it is not great over there at the minute. Is there anywhere else I can try
