People myself

[b]Duration 2 hours

[b]Tide hw around 6.30 am

[b]Weather ssw wind force 4 gusting

[b]Bait lug squid maddies

[b]Rigs 2 hook flapper pulley/pennell

[b]Result 1 Bass 1 flounder

[b]Report
:
After having recent luck at this west coast mark i couldnt wait to give it another go.Told the wife i was bringing the kids for a walk on the beach and managed to sneak the fork into the back of the car and off we went ''for a walk''.Got myself a nice bucket of juicy lug and that was me ready for a session once i got the kids to bed that night.Left the house at around 10pm and got down there and was fishing by 12 ,earlier in the week with no wind and a slight surf i managed 6 Bass and a flounder so expectations were high when i opened the car door and hear the pound of a good surf, nothing for first 45 minutes then bang and after a brief struggle a Bass of around 38cm was landed, nothing then for an hour and a half and the early mornings and late nights fishing were catching up so decided to pack up and try and stay awake to galway. There was a small flounder when i brought it in ,time for a day or 2 of rest and down there again at the weekend.

People: Just me

Duration: 6pm - 9pm

Tide: Low, up.

Weather: Bloody windy! But dry

Bait: Mackeral

Rigs: 2 Hook Flapper, 3 Hook Loop.

Results: 10 Codling (6 Skitters, 1x22cm, 1x24cm, 1x25cm, 1x27cm) 2 Coalies (22+23cm) 1 Pollack (22cm)

Report:

Best thing about being 10 minutes from a mark is that you can get a report up rather quickly, had a fun wee night on the Dee, nothing big, But plenty to keep Rods nodding, the codling were all taken about half way to the other pier. Same with the Coalies.

Wind was making distinguishing bites a bit of a problem but the better codling pulled soft tip of the affinity round quite savagely, So nice to see the tool working.

Can't wait to get out again, heres a couple of piccies....

I heard of the death of Killybegs skipper Pat O'Callaghan yesterday
Having fished with him over the past 25 years Pat was one of the finest Skippers from the North West

Hi All,
This is short report from past few days of fishing.

Warmer weather and good tide were encouraging so decided to take rod and try for sea Bass... On Sunday weather was sunny and almost no wind. Water was unbelievably clear and no surprisingly fish were out for food. Shortly it was obvious that sea trout took over the place so my chances for sea Bass were slim. It was almost hard to get a cast-retrieve without fish knocking the lure. Even after I sized up my lure. As a effect in just two hours of fishing (hour before and after low tide) I got 10 trout hooked and 6 landed. Indeed nice by catch.

On the Paddy’s day, despite windy and cloudy weather I decided to try out the venue one more time, to see if bigger waves on the surface will help me in catching Bass. Frankly I was expecting to catch nothing due to the conditions. Huge balloon on the line, due to the wind, makes bite detection next to impossible. Again I rigged bigger lure (11cm as usually I’m using 9cm one) just to help me cope with windy conditions.

Imagine how surprised I was when it turned out that sea trout were there again. One more time in two hours session I beached 5 fish out of 7 hooked – never mind wind caused balloon on the line!
Most fish were around 19 inch mark with just a few below this figure.

Did anyone of your have ever faced such an issue that sea trout is on their Bass mark? I’m got used to catching odd sea trout while fishing for Bass but it’s usually no more than 1 or 2 in the year. Is it possible that Bass are moving out while other species of fish like sea trout is moving in?

Hi all,
i am just wondering, if anyone of you ever fished on this cute beach, Rocky Bay near Kinsale, next to Robert's Cove?

It looks very good, open water in the front...

Would like to give a try...

Has anyone experience on this beach?

Regards,
Zoltan

People:me and mick

Duration:6.30-10.30

Tide:2hours either side of high

Weather:flat calm

Bait:mackeral, squid, sandeel

Rigs:flapper, pulley

Results:me 1 dogfish, mick 2 thornies

Report: Decided to fish the same mark where we got our last thornies, mick had a theory that it was a daytime low water mark, so in order to prove any theory you must do the opposite to verify results. Got set up and sat watching motionless rods for about 2hrs before I managed a doggie, micks theory could be right  Then with the blank saved we really began to concentrate on thornie fishing, by that I mean we had a cup of coffee  Then after both of us each missing thornie bites  mick managed to connect with one :D and landed a small one of about 3 lb. Then again back to the vast abyss of nothingness so we decided to pack up and just as mick was walking to his rod it gave that familure lurch forward and another thornie was landed again just over 3lb :D :D
So all in all a justifiable session. Some of you have wondered where this mark is along the swilly, we have done a loty of exploration trying to find this hole we had heard of from a local skipper. This morning mick rang me to say that the gaurds had landed with his wife last night after having reports of lights in a very remote area, on investigation they found his van in the area but even they didnt try navigating the terrain :!:
The fish are there just waiting to be caught

date 16/3/2010

time 3hours before high tide

bait mackeral sandeel and razor fish

result me 1 small pollick 2 five bearded rockling my cousin <BLANK> again

we decided to give glenarm beach a go in front of the police station after setting up it took about 45mins before i got my first bite. It was a small pollick but i was glad it was not a blank. As the night went on slowly i got another good bite about an hour after my first fish it was a five bearded rockling. I was over the moon as i have never caught one before or any rockling. This was shortly followed buy another slightly bigger rockling two p.b.'s in one night not bad. Mean while my cousin who was fishing with the same bait about 20 feet away from me blanked UNLUCKY or what.

guess i must just be a better fisherman lol apart from one trip to ballycastle beach were he stuffed me

[b]People me, bigbadtom and beachcaster called down

[b]Duration 10.am/2.15pm

[b]Tide dropping

[b]Weather good but windy

[b]Bait mac/squid/sandeels, tom also had lug

[b]Rigs me, pully's tom 3 hook flapper

[b]Results me "BLANKETY BLANK" tom 2 flounder

[b]Report meet up with tom at the marina and we fished fahan beach, mainly to check if the thornie's have arrived yet, they are showing up on other marks on up the swilly, so was hoping that they have reached fahan. but no joy, not even a sniff of one. tom landed two flounder and saved the blank, john (beachcaster) landed down and we had a good yap and bit of banter, but still no signs of any thornie's making an appearance, then i got a good solid pull on one of my rods, a few seconds later another good hit, but no hook up. after that it was just wee taps every so ofen. at the end up i knew we were just floging a dead horse, so we packed up and headed for home, will give the beach another throw in a few weeks time to check it again...

Hello all ,
I wonder if anybody has any idea where to get detailed charts from the Northwest , Donegal to Bloody Foreland. I have " The Sound of Arann and Burtonport ", but that is quite a large scale.
Thanks in advance from Germany where the weather seems to get better, Werner

We are trying to gauge interest for a LURES ONLY Bass competition based in Cork Harbour during the summer.

The event would take place over two days, probably Friday & Saturday. Reasonable start on Friday to allow competitors to arrive. Early start on Saturday. Sunday to recover or fish more!

There would be a Kayak section if there is interest.

Teams of three.
There would be places available on the Bella Vista fleet of boats (18 approx places) for people not bringing their boat.

Competition would suit small boats.

Bass the only species… Lures the only method (including fly).

Based in Cobh with the whole harbour and beyond to play in!

Match would be on a Catch, Photo, and Release basis. With the winning team decided on overall length.

Post if interested.

The Labrax Cup is a prestigious event run over five legs in France. Bass on lures only.
You get the idea here: http://www.pecheaubar.com/videos.php?vi ... es_Glenans

Fished a west coast mark today with husshunter and eoin tarmey. Arrived at the mark hoping to get my 1st Bass! First cast i got a nice knock on the rod and i pulled in my 1st one! Only a small one at 31cms but i was over the moon! Husshunter was plucking them out most of the evening and think he ended with 6. We both dropped a few fish. Bites were so quick we missed a lot of them. Also pulled out a flounder later on of 28cms. Not a bad session, finally got my Bass though! sorry about the poor report, will put up a pic later!

Hows all,

Arrived in Greystones last night at 21:30.Alot of lads fishing on the beach.I fished the old pier.Got to thinking that i could have a good session on my hands.

Caught 1 coalie ,got a few bites shortly after ,had a couple of the old reliable pot noodles.Hung around till 1am (false hope).Went home to the laba.

Does anyone know of any beaches between dublin and courtown that would be worth a try at the moment ??

Hi All,

I was just wondering is there anywhere in the greater Dublin area where it might be worth trying some lure fishing for Bass? Or is it a case of Bass being so rare that if anyone did know of a decent spot they would keep it to themselves?! The Poolbeg area used to be mentioned in the old days. Although if they exist at Poolbeg, I have always wondered why you wouldn't catch Bass, (at least flat fish) in the Blackrock or Booterstown area for example. However, I've never seen anyone fish there, just bait diggers galore.

So I guess what I'm asking is whether the Wexford area represents the nearest decent spot to Dublin suitable for lure bassing?

Any input would be much appreciated.

All the best

People- Me and mate

Time- 10.00 am to 8.00 pm

Location's- benone and waterfoot pier

Bait- Rag, Mack, and squid

Results- Blankety Balnk

Set off this morning to get bait and head up to meat Fishermannum1 (thanks for the offer) at Fahan but after a call he advised we would only get a few hours fishing in due to our late start due to bait shop mis hap's on my end ( :? ). Headed to benone instead as we heard it was fishing its socks off. Only fished this mark a few times and had a few nice sea trout and flatties so had high hope. After 4 hours of not a bite on our four rods we set sail for waterfoot beach. On seeing only two people on the pier we poped down and fished it instead of the beach. Again not a bite between 4 rods. after more hours of no bites Two very grumpy and hungry boys set sail for home. All in all a terrible days fishing- but sure beat the hell outta working :) :)

dont forget about our club days , if your club wants a day for tuition and the court to yourselfs ?
to find this years top club caster out there aswell , dennis brock was last years champ of the court 8) who can take his title ?

HI all. just wondering would any one be able to help me out .I'm looking for some where to dig or search for rag worm in the galway area .any Ive found are to small to use and would be a waste to try and fish with. and a waste to kill. I'm not afraid of hard digging or searching.Any bait marks would be great .thanks lads and Lady's.

I m ' call Franck, j ' am 38 years old and I saw in Brittany (France).
I go fishing exclusively with lures or fly. In France, I go fishing for the seabass.

With my friends, we come in Ireland to go fishing for the seabass. We like very much kerry's ring, Dursey island and waterville.

We fish only inshore .Next time ,we' ll try kayak .Only "catch and release" .

Our lures preferred in ireland are: super spook, zenith zclaw, flashminnow 110 sp, bonnie 128, frosty... Soft bait only for pollack .

This year I come in June in kerry .I hope that my sons will be able to catch seabassand especially mackerels . In september 2009 ,any mackerels near Kenmare.
