Larry's Tackle Shop
Serving saltwater fishermen for over 50 years.

Here are a few tips for booking a successful fishing charter:

1. Have a list of the dates that you want to fish handy. Charter captains and shore guides do get busy, especially during the best parts of the season, so have alternate dates available if possible. We'll need to know exactly how many anglers there are in your party.

2. Be prepared to let us know what type of fishing that you want to do. Be as specific as you like - the better that we understand your preferences, the better we can serve you. Try to stay flexible if possible - the type of action that you can expect on any given day can often change on short notice.

3. Let us know in advance if you have any special needs such as handicaps, etc.

4. Do your best to give us a good indication of your skill level. Be objective - if you exaggerate your skills you may be faced with over-challenging situations while fishing. If your skills are still developing, please let us know and we'll make every effort to assist you in improving your fishing techniques.

As the date of your trip approaches:

1. Be sure to contact the captain or guide a few days in advance, and also the evening before your trip to arrange the final plans. Have a local phone number available where your guide can contact you in the event of inclement weather. You can always leave a message here at Larry's Tackle Shop.

2. Bring anything you need to be comfortable on your trip, but travel light. Foul weather gear is important for rainy days. Try to keep the number of rods that you bring to a minimum - the captain will probably have a few rods on board as back-up.

3. If you need them, please bring water, sunscreen, a snack, and other items for your own personal comfort.

4. Any extra items that you bring with you should be in a waterproof bag that can be stowed below decks for safety and convenience.

A word on tipping:

It is customary to tip the captain or guide if you have enjoyed your trip. Remember that these folks work very hard to help you enjoy your time on the water. Their day starts early and ends late, and there are plenty of expenses associated with boats and saltwater fishing. Be generous and your guide or captain will remember you fondly.
